Our Vision
To create a loving, warm and homely atmosphere where each person is supported to experience each moment richly.
Our Values
We strive to achieve this vision by promoting:
- The uniqueness of each person
- The immense value of each person
- Openness, honesty and integrity
In these ways we enrich each person, the community and the world.
About Us
We pride ourselves on the high level of person-centred care we offer at Admatha Lodge.
A registered nurse is on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Diversional Therapists work with our residents every afternoon, with emphasis on one to one activities like ‘Scents of Yesteryear’, water therapy, laundry folding, songs and music to stimulate the senses and encourage interaction and reminiscence.
Touch is important at Admatha Lodge, with activities such as manicure, hand massage and foot spas. Over time, we develop what really works for each person. We discover what he/she likes to do most, most active times, times when he/she likes to rest. We explore, discover, and initiate what works best for each person. This will often reflect past activity patterns and interests.
The hairdresser visits weekly. We have weekly entertainment on Saturdays, and monthly church services.
Family become part of the community at the Lodge. They are encouraged to be involved
in their loved ones’ care, and to share their in-depth and intimate knowledge of their past history, likes and dislikes. There is much honesty and openness. This builds trusting relationships between us all. Family are always welcome and there is an open invitation to stay for a meal.
We offer family the opportunity to be part of a monthly support group. An independent facilitator facilitates this group. This is an opportunity to be with people who know what it is like to have a family member with dementia. The journey which involves many struggles and joys can be shared with others.
Visiting can sometimes be difficult. We really enjoy helping family to make visits go well.
Accommodation
At Admatha Lodge we offer care in two small units, Amour and Mon Ami, one with 12 rooms,
the other with 13, in keeping with our Small Homes philosophy of care.
Each home is self-contained, with a central living area and a bedroom wing with wide, well-lit
corridors.

Each of our small homes has its own homely open-plan kitchen, safe for residents yet fully working.
This is where residents assist our DT staff in familiar activities like making sandwiches or baking scones for afternoon tea, or help the caregiving staff wipe down the benchtops or load the diskwasher. The open plan living areas are much like those of an ordinary family home, and the scent of fresh baking often greets visitors on arrival.
All residents have single rooms, many of which are large. Toilets and shower areas are communal at this level of care, and appropriate assistance is given with personal cares where required.
